Stretch fabrics contain elastic fibers such as spandex, Lycra, or elastic polyester, and require careful handling to maintain their elasticity, comfort, and durability. Key precautions include:

Avoid High-Temperature Washing and Drying
Elastic fibers are sensitive to heat and can lose their stretch if exposed to high temperatures. Wash in cool water (generally below 30°C) or use a gentle cycle. Avoid high-temperature drying; air-dry or lay flat to prevent deformation and loss of elasticity.

Use Appropriate Detergents
Avoid bleach or strong alkaline detergents that can damage elastic fibers. Neutral or specialized detergents are preferred to maintain fiber softness and color stability.

Avoid Excessive Stretching
Do not overstretch the fabric during wearing, washing, or storage. Prolonged or excessive stretching may cause permanent deformation, reducing recovery and fit.

Monitor Ironing Temperature
Stretch fabrics have low heat tolerance. Iron at low temperatures or use a cloth barrier to prevent direct contact, avoiding fiber melting or loss of sheen.

Proper Storage
Fold garments neatly for storage rather than hanging for long periods, which can cause sagging. Store in a dry, ventilated environment to prevent moisture damage or mildew.

Avoid Sharp Objects
Although stretch fabrics are soft and elastic, they are prone to snags or pulls from sharp items. Avoid contact with zippers, button edges, or pointed accessories during wearing or washing.

Care for Functional Stretch Fabrics
For fabrics with functional finishes such as quick-dry, antibacterial, or UV protection, follow the care instructions to avoid heat, bleach, or chemicals that may compromise their properties.

Following these precautions helps maintain the softness, elasticity, and comfort of stretch fabrics, prolonging garment life and ensuring consistent wearing quality.
